The average cost of milk in Canada inches upward
This week our chart puts into focus the cost of living. One of the core food items Canadians purchase is milk. And, if it feels like that’s becoming more expensive, well, that’s because it is. The average price of 2 litres of milk across Canada in February 2026, was $5.47, up $0.06 from the month before, and $0.13 more expensive than the same period from a year ago. Among provinces, residents of Ontario paid the most, while those living in Prince Edward Island paid the least. Manitobans experienced the greatest month-to-month change with with cost of 2 litres of milk increasing by $0.16 from January to February. Meanwhile, Albertans are paying $0.22 more than a year ago, the highest change across the country.
