The average price of regular gasoline in Canada is $1.74 per litre

Canadians are spending more at the pumps. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East is driving up oil prices and, with that, the price of gasoline. Natural Resources Canada tracks gasoline prices across the country and in major cities. Data is published daily, and also available as weekly and monthly averages. On April 23, 2026, the average price of regular gasoline across Canada was 174.3 cents per litre. A comparison of select cities, including Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Regina, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg, shows that prices vary greatly across the country. A litre of regular gasoline was the highest in Vancouver at 208.0 cents and was lowest in Edmonton at 155.1 cents per litre. Over the past 30 days, the national average price of regular gasoline peaked on April 6, 2026, at 191.0 cents per litre. Gasoline prices have been swinging up and down as oil prices fluctuate in response to the prospects of the conflict ending.
