Latest estimates shows modest population growth in Canada

Statistics Canada has released its latest quarterly population estimates for Canada, the provinces, and territories. The latest data show that Canada’s population reached 41,798,407 on July 1, 2026, up from 41,608,982 in the same period in 2025. The change represents a modest 0.2% increase year-over-year. Among provinces and territories, all except the Northwest Territories saw their population increase. Alberta experienced the largest growth, adding 76,419 residents, about 40% of Canada's total population increase between July 1, 2025, and July 1, 2026.
